Cats in Norway: rules and travel

Domestic dog and cat rules could not be confirmed from official pages in this pass. Entry rules are strict: dogs need a tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before arrival unless they come directly from Finland, Malta, the UK or Ireland, and non-EU animals enter only at Gardermoen or Storskog.

Not confirmed which rules are set locally.

Travelling to Norway with a cat

From an EU country

Animals must be ID-marked with an EU pet passport, over three months old at entry (except from Sweden), rabies vaccinated from 12 weeks and valid 21 days after the first dose. Dogs need a tapeworm treatment from a vet 24 to 120 hours before arrival. Show animals to customs in the red zone. More than five animals falls under commercial import rules.[1]

From outside the EU

Chip or pre-July 2011 tattoo, rabies vaccination, a health certificate (passport for EU/EEA), and entry only via Oslo Airport Gardermoen or Storskog. Use the red customs lane.[2]

Required for animals from non-EU/EEA countries unless they come from a listed third country.[2]
